An interview with Amanda Edmonds

What outdoor activity is your passion?
Climbing. Once I discovered rock climbing, there was no going back. I am so fortunate to live in a place where there are so many incredible places to climb!

How did you get involved in that activity, and how old were you when you started?
I found climbing later than most. I was 30 and on maternity leave with my 2nd child and we planned a camping trip with friends who were climbing and a spark was lit. I didn’t really climb that weekend but that was when I KNEW I wanted to climb.

What was the most epic trip you’ve ever taken?
Oh gosh. I have to pick one? Hmmm. In 2018 we spent nine days camping in Indian Creek, Utah and Moab, Utah for spring break. It was so incredible to disconnect and be off grid. We climbed to the point of exhaustion, played in the rivers, relaxed in hammocks in the shade during the day and celebrated Easter in the desert. We truly lived in the moment.

What is the most important piece of gear in your pack? (other than AKU footwear, of course!)
SO hard to pick one again. I ALWAYS have a headlamp, knife and a first aid kit.

Where do you hope your AKUs will take you in the future?
SO hard to pick one again. I ALWAYS have a headlamp, knife and a first aid kit.

What AKU boots are you currently wearing?
I chose the Pilgrim DS for their breathability & Vibram soles. When you are scrambling over rocks you need Vibram soles!!!
